That is just a dope flier. Great concept for this night - 5 DJ’s, 5 rap labels being celebrated. Lot of talent on this bill and I’m humbled to be a part of it. Also this will be my first time playing GoodGod, and that place has BASS.
Back in high school, Loud was on heavy rotation. It seemed like they could do no wrong, dropping classics regularly. It was an easy choice really, and I have an excuse to play KEEP IT THORO.
Rocked the late set for this one. Can’t do prime time all the time. Late sets give you a bit of freedom, mostly because everyone is already drunk. Pumped the underrated classic Down and Out for maximum effect.
This wasn’t all that packed, but all the people there were fairly fine dimes. And for some reason they really knew their rap stuff. Personal highlight was probably So Ghetto, which they knew all the words to.
I was lucky enough to be one of the guests at the launch of Sydney’s latest greatest weekly rap jam, Sound Bombing. The first one was cool, but I hear that lately it’s been absolutely killing. Expect great things from this night.
I played the Message that night. Never played that before and may not again for a while, but at the time it fit.
Hella late post part 1. This night was cool though. Started off kinda slow, got pretty packed by the end of my set, and then the legendary Leon Smith tore it up with a Biggie tribute. Nate Dogg had recently passed, so I had an excuse to play Indo Smoke. Any time you play Indo Smoke is a good time.
OH YEAH. There was a fight on this night. Some real hood rat shit. I hadn’t seen some hood rat shit in a minute. Kind of brought me back.
This was a fun one. I spun two sets, one at primetime and one to close out. Similar to the B-Side on cassette singles, the closing set was the winner. Some bullet points:
This event has just passed, but I want to make a note of it. For one, it was butt hot in there. The bar’s A/C was shot, and to make matters worse it was just as hot outside. Australia is an oven sometimes. Nevertheless it was a ton of fun spinning for that sweat infested room, and I got to play Computer Love. Win.
Partying on Sunday is criminally underrated. Make the most of your weekend and come to every indie girl’s favorite bar, Chingalings, this Sunday as I play some tunes along with super cool guys Shantan Wantan Ichiban and Sonny Syah.
